Located between the departments of Comayagua, Cortes and Santa Barbara, is Lake Yojoa, the largest natural lake in the country, running 8 kms by 16 kms. There is easy access since the northern highway runs in front of it, 2 hours from Tegucigalpa and 1 from San Pedro Sula. Around the lake rise high mountains of up to 2,600 meters in height, between two national parks with rich eco systems like Azul Meambar and the Eco park Los Naranjos, that has lenca artifacts and ruins on the lakeshore. Because of the altitude one of the main crops is coffee, source of income for the inhabitants of the area. There are many activities to enjoy around the lake like Pullapanzak Waterfalls, bird watching o boat rides on the lake itself.
