Located in the coastal department of Atlantida, with an excellent paved road to San Pedro Sula, getting to this beautiful harbor is easy. Tela is the operations center of important banana companies that arrived at the end of the XIX century, one of those is the Tela Railroad Company, in fact, Villas Telamar was originally the housing site of the company’s executives. The natural wealth of the place (three protected areas are close by) the beauty of its white sand beaches and the native culture attract thousands every year. Surrounded by garífuna villages that keep their traditions and customs, with infectious dances with African roots like Punta. The city is divided in two parts; Tela Vieja; where tropical dwelling abound (American neo –colonial) wooden houses with wire screens and canvas awnings, and Tela Nueva where the architecture is a mix of old and modern, with hotels, restaurants, hospitals.
