Day 1: Welcome to Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras! Transfer to hotel. In the evening a sightseeing tour through the city to admire its million lights, the best views of the historic downtown from La Leona overlook, its old buildings showing the colonial heritage, several churches and homes from that period. Night Accommodation.
Day 2: Up early to take a closer look at the city. See the historic downtown, museums and overlooks, United Nations Park, site of the Picacho Christ, the Suyapa Shrine, patron saint of the country and a typical lunch in a nice setting. Afternoon off to window shop in the commercial area of the city. Breakfast and lunch included. Night Accommodation.
Day 3: After breakfast, we head for Santa Lucia, famed silver mining town in Central America with winding streets, filled with tradition and now known for its flower gardens. Visit the church and admire its Crucifix, a donation from a Spanish king. Feast on a typical Honduran lunch at Valle de Angeles, check out the country’s best known handicraft market where artisans showcase their products made from mahogany, along with the lenca pottery, the perfect place to get souvenirs of your visit to Honduras. Afternoon off to enjoy Tegucigalpa. Breakfast included. Night Accommodation.
Day 4: Start the day by breathing the cleanest air around at La Tigra National Park, a typical cloud forest, one of the richest natural habitats in the country because of its water supply, a mere 25 km from Tegucigalpa. Waking the trails watching a wide variety of pant life like ferns, moss, mushrooms and giant oaks, pines, avocado, encino and ceibo trees; with some luck you will see the quetzal in its natural habitat. After a trip filled with nature and history return to Tegucigalpa. Breakfast. Night Accommodation.
Day 5: Ready to see more of Honduras or return home.
